Welcome to the web page for the Sparks club at Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church! We are excited to see returning faces as well as new faces this year. Kids in the K-2 ages are always excited to learn new things, hear stories about Jesus, and earn patches and jewels for completing sections in their books. We have a group of great kids and we are blessed to be able to work with them.
Memorization is a useful skill that will serve the kids throughout their lives - and what better to memorize than scripture!
For those of you whose children are new to Sparks, here is a brief summary of the evening: each child is assigned to one of four groups (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow) for the year. Immediately after the opening ceremony at 6:30 (where we pledge allegience to the flags), we have game time. This allows the kids to "get the wiggles out" and have a great time playing various team games. Then we move to Council Time where we sing songs and hear a story from the life of Jesus. Sometimes we have special guests come in. Then any special recognitions and awards are given out. After this each group goes to a separate room to work on sections in their books. The leaders can help the kids work on sections, but the kids can complete more sections if the parents are able to help them during the week. Those who complete their books by the end of the year earn special awards.
If you have any questions about the Sparks program, feel free to speak to any of the Sparks leaders, or to speak to either of us.
